What causes acne?

Acne is a symptom caused by a combination of clogged pores, bacterial manifestation and inflammation. It starts when oily secretions from the skin’s sebaceous glands (oil glands) clog the pores for hair follicles. Clogging of large pores results in blackheads while that of small pores may result in whiteheads. Both types of clogged pores can result in inflammation, and bacteria may manifest on the surface of the skin or inside the clogged pores. The growth and spread of bacteria lead to an acne breakout.

Tackling acne requires multiple actions, including reducing inflammation and eradicating bacterial infection. After the acne has cleared, a person may also require lightening produces to reduce signs of discoloration of the skin.
