The Pharmacy Inc^TM Periodontics Dental Paste is a prescription paste with metronidazole that is compounded for dental use. It is developed and formulated by our pharmacists and is indicated as an adjunct to scaling and root planning procedures for reduction of pocket depth in patients with adult periodontitis.

The benefit of The Pharmacy Inc^TM Periodontics Dental Paste is that it gives lesser unwanted adverse reactions and drug interactions than tetracycline-based periodontics dental paste. There were no significant differences between the effects following topical application of metronidazole and tetracycline paste. Scaling and root planning alone appeared as effective as the drug augmented regimens, although there was a weak but non-significant tendency for better results in sites treated with the antibiotic drugs.
